Too Faced Lip Injection Extreme Plumping Clicks Review & Swatches

Too Faced Lip Injection Extreme Plumping Clicks Lipgloss ($28) is a new permanent range of pen lipglosses available in eight shades that launched with the Too Faced Spring 2025 Collection. As you know from my previous post on these I wasn’t feeling the price! And after this review I’m pretty sure Too Faced is going to hate me but I do thank them for sending samples of these as I simply wasn’t feeling that $28 price tag. Ouch! After trying the formula I feel even better I didn’t actually spend money on them because I’m not loving them at all.

Sorry Too Faced, I appreciate the PR but the Lip Injection Extreme Plumping Clicks Lipgloss just aren’t for me!

Tarte’s super popular Maracuja Juicy Lip has spawned a million dupes some of which are incredibly budget friendly like Milani Keep It Full Glossy Plumping Balm, E.L.F. Pout Clout Lip Plumping Pen, Colourpop So Juicy Plumping Gloss Balm, and NYX Fat Oil Slick Click Lip Oil Stick. The completion is fierce but all these formulas are fun to try out as I really love the Tarte formula and enjoy indulging in affordable versions to see how they measure up. But the problem with dupes is that you have to sort of strike when the iron is hot. Too Faced is a little late to the game and now that there are a lot of affordable picks does anyone really want to go back to paying near $30 for a lipgloss pen? And P.S. Who wants to pay for one with less product that cost more than the original? Maracuju Juicy Lips are 0.095 oz in size and $26 where as these new Too Faced Lip Injection Extreme Plumping Clicks are $28 for 0.05 oz. Ouch. And let’s not forget how many drugstore options we have that run around $8-$14 bucks. Unfortunately, Too Faced may have missed the boat on this release.

Too Faced Lip Injection Extreme Plumping Clicks formula promises us sheer-to-medium pigment, eight hours hydration, and a plumping formula with a ton of shine. Each of the lipglosses comes in a click pen with a rather cute little heart-shaped click on the opposite end of the pen. Honestly, if it didn’t say Too Faced on the barrel I probably would have though this was some no name brand. The packaging just isn’t Too Faced-like. It’s a hot pink barrel with a pale pink cap. It just doesn’t have they look of a Too Faced product to me. It was rather odd. Even the emblem seems off. The pens are made of very lightweight plastic. For $28 bucks I want to be romanced by the packaging a little more. Also, as always, remember to click only the amount you plan to use up! These don’t swivel down so use click up a small amount and build as needed.

I have two shades and had inconsistent experiences with both. They do share one common trait and that’s the flavor and taste. As promised they do smell like strawberry but it’s a rather weird strawberry scent. It’s not strong so no worries if you’re sensitive. But it is a cheap smelling strawberry that wasn’t very pleasant. They also, have the same strawberry flavor but it’s mixed with a weird petroleum/Vaseline taste that wasn’t terribly pleasant. The shade Feelin’ Spicy was particular gross tasting and sort of left a weird tingle and a bit of bitterness on my tongue from the flavor. Speaking of tingle these do have a “my lips are chapped and burning” feel to them. They are a plumping formula and the sting isn’t nearly as bad as some plumping glosses I’ve tried but they do make me feel like my lips are chapped. It’s a hint of a burn that lingers well after application. Sensitive users might experience more of a burn from them. I felt the burn plus they sort had an uncomfortable tickle on my tongue and lips. I wouldn’t say the sting caused any volume or plumping action and the formula itself isn’t thick enough to make lips appear larger. If you’re looking for plump these might not really deliver what you want.

Too Faced Lip Injection Extreme Plumping Clicks Swatches (On Point and Feelin’ Spicy)

I did have different experiences with both. Both have a thin, slick, melty consistency but Feelin’ Spicy was more melty and glossy than On Point. On Point felt a little bit less glossy and melty. It applied a little easier as well since Feelin’ Spicy was a bit streaky and wanted to run around my lip line (lip liner might help keep it safely inside your lip line and outside of it). Both had excellent pigment. I know they said you might have to build but right on first stroke they had excellent color pay off that merely deepened which each application. Pigment is not a problem here at all. I loved the fact they both had amazing shine and looked like I had put clear gloss on top! The wear time was around four hours but Feelin’ Spicy was a bit less since it was migrating around my lip a good deal through the wear. They do transfer if you’re sipping from a cup or straw and they won’t last through lunch or having a snack, etc…!

Too Faced Lip Injection Extreme Plumping Clicks have potential but sadly, the price, weird taste, and uncomfortably plumping action really didn’t do it for me. These are just too expensive to be lacking the basics you know?

Too Faced Lip Injection Extreme Plumping Clicks are available now. Tried them? Do share your experience!

Where to buy

Ulta Sephora

Too Faced Lip Injection Extreme Plumping Clicks are a new lipgloss pen that promises color, plump, and shine all in one formula. These are 0.05 oz in size, $28 each, and available in eight permanent shades. I tried two of the eight shades and thought both had excellent shine and pigment however, they did taste very strange and smelled like weird, cheap strawberries. They had a melty consistency but one of the shades applied very smooth and evenly where as the other applied a little streaky and immediately feathered on my lips. I experience no plumping action but I did feel like they created a strange tickle on my tongue and made my lips feel chapped even when they weren’t. They do wear for around four to five hours but one of the shades migrated badly during that wear and they will transfer if you’re drinking or eating which does shorten that wear time.

Pros

Cons

  • Bitter taste and odd smell.
  • Makes my lips feel like they’re chapped and feels bitter and strange on my tongue.
  • Certain shades migrate/feather.
  • Inexpensive.

Who

Too Faced Lip Injection Extreme Plumping Clicks will probably lure in fans of click up glosses but the price might sway them to say no.
