Maybelline Grippy Serum Primer Review & Swatches

Maybelline Grippy Serum Primer ($12.99) is a new hydrating gripping primer that promises to extend the wear of foundation up to 24 hours. This is unlike the popular and cult-favorite Milk Hydro Grip formula, E.L.F. Jelly Pop Dew Primer, and E.L.F. Power Grip Power as instead of a gel it’s an serum consistency. Maybelline Grippy Serum Primer not only promises to extend the wear of your foundation but also, plumps up skin and contains 2% niacinamide.

I was intrigued by the fact this is a serum and it was part of the reason I purchased it. The other reason is because I swear by gripping primers and absolutely love them. I do think there are two sides in the gripping facial primer world though. There’s the side that I’m on that absolutely loves these formulas and there’s the side that hates them and finds them too sticky or tacky. Personally, I love them and think they really work and do extend the wear of your foundation! That being said not all gripping primers are created equal and a few of the newer formulas like Covergirl TruBlend Skin Enhancer Sticky Grip Primer have been disappointing!

Let’s take a look at my Maybelline Grippy Serum Primer review below!

Maybelline Grippy Serum Primer arrives in a 1 oz glass clear glass bottle with a dropper for easy application. It’ll set you back around $10-$13 depending where you purchase it which is equivalent to the 1 oz size of E.L.F. Power Grip Primer which is $10 and also, 1 oz in size. I actually really do like the packaging. I have my little youTube moment in the morning dripping this on my face like a little weirdo. It’s oddly satisfying. That being said, I am worried I’ll drop it as it is glass and I’m clumsy!

I have drier skin and my skin absolutely loves this formula. It’s a thin runny serum that feels refreshing, absorbs easily, and feels lightly hydrating. Initially it feels like I’ve just applying a serum. It absorbs fast and nothing really happens after that. I learned after using it a few times I need to wait before applying my makeup. This needs about ten or fifteen seconds before it starts to become sticky. I actually like dripping a few drops on my face and just leaving it there for a few seconds. After a few seconds I’ll pat it into place and that’s when it becomes lightly tacky. This isn’t as tacky or as sticky as Milk or E.L.F.’s formula. This is a good thing if you hate how tacky those are as you might find this a better option! That being said, it’s still tacky enough to grip foundation. It creates a really nice, soft base for your foundation. I feel like my foundation applies easier and smoother when I use this under it. I experienced no pilling issues and my foundation was super smooth on top of it. And yes, it extended the wear on any formula I used be it liquid, cream, or serum foundations. All worked great with this and I got a good two to three hours more wear from them versus when I wasn’t using Grippy Serum Primer. It also, left my skin feeling plush, plumped, and nicely hydrated through the day. Typically, I have a little bit of foundation cracking and flaking around the sides of my nose and this prevented that beautifully. It’s fragrance-free with absolutely no weird scent to it.

As for the skincare part of the deal I’m not really sure. I’ve only been using this a short amount of time and I can’t really say if the niacinamide is actually doing anything. As I get older I become less impressed with makeup products that contain skincare. That being said, the addition of is niacinamide but not really necessary in my facial primer.

I happen to be a die hard Jelly Pop Dew Primer girl and I love NYX Plump Right Back Primer and I can see Maybelline Grippy Serum Primer becoming part of my daily routine. I tend to switch between those two formulas and Maybelline will be added in as it’s quickly becoming a fav formula of mine.

If you love gripping primers I think Maybelline Grippy Serum Primer will be a formula you adore! Maybelline Grippy Serum Primer is available now. Have you tried it? What did you think of the formula?

Maybelline Grippy Serum Primer is Muse Approved.

Ulta Ulta Amazon

Maybelline Grippy Serum Primer ($12.99) is a new gripping priming serum that promises to extend the wear of foundation as it hydrates and treats skin with a 2% niacinamide. It arrives in a glass bottle with a dropper for easy application. As I mentioned above I’m not really sure if the niacinamide is doing anything in this formula and as nice as it is to have it in the primer it isn’t really necessary for me. I’d rather just have my skincare doing the heavy lifting and not my facial primer. That being said, the primer formula itself is excellent. It’s thin, runny, quick absorbing, and fragrance-free. I found letting it sitting on skin a few seconds before foundation application makes it a bit more tackier. It creates a very smooth base for foundation and doesn’t have any pilling issues. It keeps my skin lightly hydrated during the wear and I felt like my skin felt plumped and plush when wearing it under my foundation. And yes, it absolutely extends the wear of a variety of different foundation formulas by two to three hours more than when not wearing.

Aqua / Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, PEG-150 Distearate, Niacinamide, Polysorbate 80, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Panthenol, Tetrasodium Glutamate Diacetate, Ascorbyl Palmitate (F.I.L. Z70051981/2).

Pros

  • Affordable.
  • Cool packaging.
  • Leaves skin smooth and lightly hydrated.
  • Great base for foundation to adhere to.
  • Extends the wear of foundation.
  • No fragrance.

Cons

  • Glass bottle is cool but a little concerning if dropped on a bathroom floor.

Who

Maybelline Grippy Serum Primer is easily a great pick for anyone that enjoys gripping primers!

Revlon Super Lustrous Glimmer Gloss ($10.49) is a new take on Revlon’s Super Lustrous The Lip Gloss that launched about six or so years ago. This new formula has a shimmering, metallic finish and contains plant-based glitter that have light-refracting pearls giving lips color, shine, and a beautiful sparkly look. Available in ten shades this gloss launched with the Revlon Spring 2025 Collection that also includes a new Super Lustrous Glimmer Lip Oil.

If you’re an old school MAC Dazzleglass fan girl I think you’ll adore Revlon Super Lustrous Glimmer Gloss. I’m actually surprised I even bothered picking one up as my tastes have dramatically evolved in recent years and I’m not as big a metallic finish fan as I once was. I prefer sparkle or fine shimmer but not metallic. Metallic is just overkill for me. Although, a lot of these shades do sort of look iridescent versus hardcore metallic. Another added plus to this formula is the glitter is plant-based. But one of the shades caught my eye and here we are today to review it.

Let’s take a look!

Revlon Super Lustrous Glimmer Gloss Review & Swatches

Revlon Super Lustrous Glimmer Gloss will set you back around $8-$10 and is 0.13 oz in size. This is one of those larger applicator/large barrel lipglosses which I love. Don’t get me wrong a standard lipgloss is a great size for travel and for storage but I do so love the larger doe foot applicators as they cover a lot more in one swipe than the smaller ones! As I mentioned above Revlon released this formula in ten shade selections. I only grabbed one which was Bronze Spark which is a warm bronze with fine gold glitter. I’ve heard mixed reviews about the pigment level on some of the shades but I can honestly say that I had no issues with Bronze Spark. It’s quite pigmented and true to the color on the barrel. You can easily use it alone or over your favorite lipstick.

This formula is absolutely beautiful. Glitter and metallic lipglosses can be hit or miss. Some are gritter, some feel heavy, others have a rather odd texture on lips. Not the case with Super Lustrous Glimmer Gloss. You’d never know this contains glitter of any kind as it applies and feels like regular lipgloss. It’s light, very moisturizing, glides on lips easily (even when mine are busy being dried and cracked), and looks smooth and even. My shade had an intense metallic finish that was very shiny. The gold glitter is stunning in this shade as it captures the light beautifully. I always feel like I’m painting my lips with glue when I use a metallic gloss but this formula isn’t sticky, tacky or heavy! It’s very comfortable to wear. Also, as it wears away it doesn’t leave behind gross bits of glitter. It just naturally wears away and the color and glitter disappears without making a mess. I can get about four hours of wear from it and the shine lasts quite long through that time. It did leave my lips feeling very hydrated as well. The formula does have a fruity flavor but it isn’t overpowering and it isn’t bitter or perfume-y.

I have one compliant about Revlon Super Lustrous Glimmer Gloss. As you can see above I really, really like the formula however, I wish there was a better shade range. I’m not really into all the pale pinks, crystals, blues, and fuchsias. I wish they had some more nudes, corals, and peaches and maybe some nice rose shades. The shade range just isn’t my thing.

All in all, Revlon Super Lustrous Glimmer Gloss was a pleasant surprise! Not your average everyday metallic lipgloss here! This is a beautiful formula!

Ulta Ulta Target

Revlon Super Lustrous Glimmer Gloss lipgloss formula with plant-based glitter and light-refracting pearls that provides moistirizing shine, color, and sparkle to lips. Available in ten shades this formula is $10 for 0.13 oz of gloss. It comes in a larger barrel with a larger doe-foot applicator making for easy, smooth application. I got one shade and it had excellent pigment and a thicker formula that applied smoothly without being gritty or heavy on my lips. The formula gave me plenty of shine and a nice moisture while wearing for four hours without migration. As it wore away it didn’t leave behind glittery residue.

Pros

  • Super shiny.
  • Not gritty or heavy on lips.
  • Very glossy
  • Moisturizing.
  • Pigmented.

Cons

  • Shades range isn’t to my personal liking.

Who

Revlon Super Lustrous Glimmer Gloss is a great pick up for anyone who misses the long gone MAC Dazzleglass Collection!

Here’s Everything Tiktok Is Making Me Want To Buy

I hate you Tiktok shop. Truly I do! You make me want to buy ALL the things! Tiktok Shop has sort of become the new QVC with everyone and their mom and grandma trying to sell you something. Brands are REALLY heavy hitting on Tiktok Shop with epic long Live Shows that try and sell you everything from the latest makeup and beauty launches to huge rice krispie treats the size of your head (I’m not kidding!). P.S. Did you see the new rice krispie ice cream bars? Sorry, off topic!

I once legit watched Ian Somerhalder peddling his vitamin line on Tiktok Live for like 24 straight hours (not really, but lord knows he was on there for like 12-14 hours). Everyone is doing these now! Tati, Michelle Phan, all the old school youTubers and plenty of new Tiktoks hop on these epic lives and proceed to sell like its QVC.

I’m fascinated by what goes viral and sells out fast. I’m talking random stuff like pet hair/lint rollers and magnetic phone holders. You name it Why are we so hyped for stuff that Amazon has available? I dunno but I do know Tiktok shop is making a killing not to mention creating some odd lemmings for me.

Here’s a few beauty and makeup picks that Tiktok is making me want to buy.

You thought Lume’s Shannon Klingman was everywhere? Move over Shannon because Dimitri James is the new Shannon. This man is everywhere shilling his Skinn Skincare and I can’t tell you a lie and say he hasn’t sold me on a few things. I have yet to actually buy anything but he’s oddly tempting me. Listen, don’t judge me, I grew up in the Adrienne Arpel Signature Club A era and she was able to sell me snow in the Summer. Dimitri apparently can too. One of the biggest pushes on Tiktok is his Skinn Cosmetics DermAppeal Microderm Beauty Treatment. I’m curious to say the least but haven’t hit submit on this one yet. Anyone try this? He also just launched an Anhydrous Eye Balm and this one I probably won’t say no to for too long. It looks quite good.

Truly Beauty is another brand that’s a super heavy hitter in the Tiktok Shop world. I like Truly Beauty anyway but I have to admit they’ve created some very big urges to buy from them lately. My current Tiktok Shop cart has their Soft Serve Perfume Mist in it! Strawberry ice cream perfume? Yes, please! Also, I loved their other sprays so I need to add this to my stash too!

Another brand that isn’t often talked about here on my blog is Made by Mitchell. This is a brand I’d have gone wild for a few years ago. I’ve actually picked up a few items from Tiktok Shop as well as from Beauty Bay and loved it all. It’s actually a really cool brand with very interesting items. Bolt Balm Concealer and Truth Tint Skin Tint is AMAZING. My current Tiktok Shop is FILLED with tons of items from the brand and I know I’ll hit submit soon on them!

Ok, so, please, if you’ve tried this tell me because it’s another item I’m crazy curious about and never heard of. It’s called French Face Concealer and apparently it’s super concentrated and pigmented. The company who created this is Maxine’s Revenge whom I’ve never of but you KNOW I love a good concealer moment and this has been in my cart a few months.

And finally, I according to Tiktok Shop I NEED Lawless Forget The Filler Lip Plumping Gloss in Maple Sugar. Guys, this looks like the perfect Fall lip color! I know, I know, it’s only creeping on Spring now but you know I’m always in Fall mode over here.

What are some items you’ve scored on Tiktok Shop or items that are tempting you to pick up on there?

I Won’t Be Purchasing Kayali Fleur Majesty Rose Royale

It’s time for yet another Kayali new release. Kayali Fleur Majesty Rose Royale 31 is now available and you can snag a travel-spray for $29 if you’re curious! I’m not. I won’t be purchasing the new Kayali Fleur Majesty Rose Royale and it’s not for the reason you may think. Yes, I do believe Kayali has become incredibly overhyped. Yes, some of the scents like Yum Pistachio Gelato are marketed in a very tempting way but don’t smell exactly how they are hyped up to be or marketed as.

That being said, Kayali redeemed themselves in my eyes after dropping Yum Boujee Marshmallow which was everything I hoped it would be!

And sure, you probably thought, well, she doesn’t want to buy Fleur Majesty Rose Royale because she’s been disappointed with some of the past releases. But that’s not why at all…

I know of several new Spring 2025 Perfumes I do want but this isn’t one of them. Even the smaller travel-spray isn’t tempting me. As I’ve grown older I find myself taking a step back from florals. Rarely, does a floral fragrance pique my interest. Don’t get me wrong some can be very pretty but I’d much rather spend my money on a gourmand or a sweet fruity scents versus a floral. Sorry, Kayali, I just don’t think I need this one.

But for the floral lovers, well, you guys are going to probably love this. It does have some fruity notes to it like juicy pear and peach but, the main star of the snow is rose mixed with pink peony, violet woods, and purple musk. Sounds like a Bridgerton moment! Get your corset out and mist yourself madly with this to feel like the Lady of the Manor! As for me I’ll stick to Frédéric Malle Portrait of a Lady. That’s more than enough rose for this girl!

One thing I did find interesting with this launch is the fact they dropped the travel-spray so soon! Typically, they sort of wait and do the larger bottle first. I’m pleasantly surprised by this as it gives anyone curious about the scent more time to test it out before commiting to $100+ for a larger bottle!

What are your favorite rose fragrances? Do you think Kayali Fleur Majesty Rose Royale will be added to your fragrance wardrobe?
