Saie SuperSuede Talc-Free Powder Blush ($28) is a new lightweight baked blush with a long-wearing formula that launched recently in six shade selections. This blush is talc-free which is becoming the makeup industry’s norm for blush formulas lately. Primarily formulas are changing for safety reasons as talc can sometimes be contaminated with asbestos during the mining process. But also, talc is considering trying and brand’s are migrating away from it as a way of introducing a more cleaner, gentler formula for sensitive users. NARS Blush was recently reformulated and is now a completely talc-free formula and you’ll find other brands headed in the same direction.

When Saie launched these new Supersuede Blushes I was concerned they’d be doing away with the Glow Sculpt Multi-Use Cream Highlighting Blush which is one of my best loved blushes. Thankfully, those are still around and the new Supersuede formula is a permanent addition to Saie’s blush family. And a welcome one at that as they don’t have a powder blush in their catalog!

I picked up a single shade of Saie SuperSuede Talc-Free Powder Blush in Stella which is a warm, bright coral. It was $28 and holds .01 oz of blush in a simple black compact with Saie’s logo on the front in a raise, 3D design. As a lover of baked blushes this was a pretty fun purchase for me. It’s a formula I love and prefer in my blushes and I was happy to see someone embracing a new baked blush formula.

These blush has a very smooth, silky surface and the formula is just as silky. My brush easily picks up color (a little too easily) without a ton of powdery kick up. It’s VERY pigmented so when my brush picks up color it picks up A LOT of it. I did have to tap off a lot of it before I applied it on my cheeks. It applies super smoothly, blends easily, and gives my cheeks a super kick of beautiful color. I read a lot of reviews that said it was dry and patchy but I honestly can’t say I experienced that. I thought the formula was incredibly silky with a very smooth finish on my dry cheeks. I do think part of the issue is the blush is super pigmented and it comes in a variety of warmer, darker shades. They need a few more lighter shades and I think that would solve the problem of application issues as this is a really pigmented formula that’s easy to overdo which could result in patchiness or an uneven blush look. It’s a real bold selection of shades and a lighter or super fair skin tone may struggle finding a good color to purchase. The wear time is promised as a “long-wearing” and they aren’t kidding about that. Once on your skin it stays on. It doesn’t fade at all and wears throughout the day remaining bright and vibrant well into the evening. I got a solid 12 hour day out of it without it even showing a bit of wear. The blush does seem to have a little bit of a glow to it in the pan but it didn’t really translate to the finish on my cheeks. It looked more matte without any glow, shimmer, or radiance to the finish.

Saie SuperSuede Talc-Free Powder Blush Review & Swatches

Saie SuperSuede Talc-Free Powder Blush Swatches (Stella)

Saie SuperSuede Talc-Free Powder Blush is a tricky little formula but if you’re into the color range and get on board with a light application you’ll be just fine.

Saie SuperSuede Talc-Free Powder Blush is available now!

Where to buy

Sephora Saie

Saie SuperSuede Talc-Free Powder Blush is a new range of blushes with talc-free formula. Saie introduced these in six shade selections which are $28 each and .01 oz in size. I thought the formula was super silky, very pigmented, and as long-wearing as promised (12 hours without fading at all). The blush applied easily enough and looked smooth and flawless on my drier cheeks. The texture was silky and didn’t kick up when a brush was applied to the pan but my brush did pick up A LOT of color so tapping off excess was necessary. The color range is a little limited and the shades are very bold and warm which could present issues if you apply blush with a heavy hand.

Pros

  • Pigmented.
  • Long-wearing.
  • Super silky formula.

Cons

  • Shade range is a bit bold.
  • Very pigmented which could make application challenging.

Who

Saie SuperSuede Talc-Free Powder Blush is absolutely a must get if you love pigmented blushes or have darker skin and trouble with blush showing up on your tone!

Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Dewy Flush Brightening Serum Blush Review & Swatches

Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Dewy Flush Brightening Serum Blush ($25) is the brand’s first official color makeup product. Although, they’d rather you refer to it as a tinted cheek serum with a 100% skincare formula. Hmm…! Not only does it promise color but also, it’s formulated to plump, brighten, treat dark spot, and hydrate. Does it do all that? I’d say not really. It does contain Niacinamide which is superstar in the world of smoothing skin and brightening dark spots but this is essential a blush and not something you’re apply all over your face. You also, aren’t wearing a ton of it so I personally question if a few dots of this are going to treat dark spots that easily. I’m not a big fan of skincare in makeup. It just feels gimmicky. Infusing ingredients like retinoids, Vitamin C or Niacinamide into a blush or foundation seems pointless to me. I’d much rather use those products before my makeup application and not reply on my makeup for them. Of course, Glow Recipe got a ton of influencers to keep pushing and mentioning how these blushes were 100% skincare and I wasn’t buying it. But if you’re their main demographic (which is way younger than I am) I can see it being intriguing to someone who hasn’t taken a ton of time out to research skincare or who may just be starting our on their skincare journey.

I’ve used the Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Dewy Flush Brightening Serum Blush since February and I haven’t really seen any improvement in my skin. It’s a great formula, I like it a lot, but as for skincare and treating my skin? Mmm..! Can’t say it did much in that direction. But here’s my review and swatches of the Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Dewy Flush used as a blush not a skincare product.

Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Dewy Flush (.4 oz) is available in two shade selections and contains 3% niacinamide for brightening dark spots, watermalon extra for hydration and calming redness, jojoba oil coated pigments for natural, dewy color, and squalane for moisture. I got the shade Berry Flush and it’s pretty sheer! I did hear the more lighter of the two shades, Watermelon Flush, was VERY sheer and barely showed up when blended out. I’m glad I got the darker of the two as it gave my cheeks a nice natural hit of a pink flush without being overwhelming. You can’t overdo this formula either so apply as much as you want and you’ll never have a case of clown cheeks. The finish is natural no matter how many layers you’re applying.

The blush comes in a same style genie bottle as the original Glow Recipe Dew Drops Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Dew Drops but it is a smidge smaller. It has an attached sponge applicator which made it easy to dot the blush on and blend it out. I saw a few people applying this on your lips but considering it contains ingredients not meant for lips I didn’t go there. It smells like watermelon but the scent isn’t terribly strong.

This is a gel-like consistency that has a dewy finish initially but it does settle into your skin and dries down considerably after application which gives it more of a cheek stain-like finish versus one that looks “wet’ or dewy. It feels amazing! As a drier skin girl I appreciate how it feels hydrating and does sort of feel like it makes your cheeks plumped and bouncy to the touch. I didn’t get the lifting effect they promised. I thought it would be more like the lift I got from the Kaja Jelly Charm Glazed Lip Stain & Blush. I thought those were a joke until I tried them and whoa! They really do give you a chiseled cheek look! Unfortunately, I don’t get the same effect from the Glow Recipe formula. But that’s not to say it isn’t pretty. It’s really cute, sweet, and nautral looking on me. And it wears like a champion. I had no issues with it fading for a solid several hours and didn’t come off till I took it off.

Since this is a gel it does apply super easily. I would recommend dotting it on and patting it into place or just blending it outwards. A brush isn’t required and I do think a brush would actually absorb some of the product so dotting and just blending out is the best technique. It doesn’t set super fast either so there’s plenty of time to blend it and add more if you want. As I mentioned above it’s difficult to overdo this formula. You can apply a little or a lot but never fear it’ll look overkill or garish.

All in all, the Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Dewy Flush Brightening Serum Blush is a fun little flush of color. I’m not so sure about all the skincare claims but as a blush it’s a fun little addition to the Glow Recipe family! They’ll likely do more shades of this or even come out with a glowy version in the future is my guess and if they do I’ll absolutely look into purchasing more.

Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Dewy Flush Brightening Serum Blush is a new serum blush that claims to have 100% skincare benefits with use. It’s marketed as smoothing, hydrating, and brightening dark spots while adding a flush of color to cheeks. Available in two shades it’s $25 for .4 oz of blush. The blush comes housed in an genie bottle with a sponge applicator for application. It is scented like watermelon but the smells disappears quickly enough. It has a gel-like consistency that feels dewy during application but sets to a second skin-like finish that looks natural and pretty no matter how much you apply. It blends very easily, feels hydrating, and looks smooth and flawless on my drier skin with a wear of ten plus hours without fading and removes easily at the end of the night. I do question the skincare benefits as I’m only apply a small amount and in the weeks I’ve used it I can’t really see much of a difference in my skin but as a blush it’s a very nice formula!

Water/Aqua/Eau, Dicaprylyl Ether, Squalane, Isoamyl Laurate, Octyldodecanol, C10-18 Triglycerides, Aluminum Starch Octenylsuccinate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Niacinamide, Jojoba Esters, Polyglyceryl-6 Polyhydroxystearate, Polyglyceryl-6 Polyricinoleate, Glyceryl Behenate, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Wax, Hydrogenated Poly(C6-20 Olefin), Magnesium Sulfate, Citrullus Lanatus (Watermelon) Fruit Extract, Centella Asiatica Extract, Hyaluronic Acid, Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate, Acacia Decurrens Flower Extract, Glycerin, Coco-Caprylate/Caprate, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Dilinoleic Acid/Butanediol Copolymer, Polyglycerin-6, Mica, Propylene Carbonate, Triheptanoin, HDI/Trimethylol Hexyllactone Crosspolymer, Dodecane, Polyglycerin-3, Ethylhexylglycerin, Sorbitan Oleate, Phenoxyethanol, Castor Oil/IPDI Copolymer, Trihydroxystearin, Tocopherol, Fragrance/Parfum*, CI 77891, CI 15850, CI 77491, CI 77499, May contain/peut contenir: CI 45410, CI 15985, CI 42090.

Obviously, we all know this week is the Sephora Spring Savings Event and if you’re Rouge you can snag 20% off! Tomorrow the sale sale starts for VIB and BI but the discount isn’t at great at 15% and 10% off. I knew the sale was coming but I’ve still snuck in a few makeup purchases that I could have waited for to score on sale. But sometimes the heart wants what the heart wants. One of those items was a new eyeshadow palette that I didn’t need but I did buy. Well, technically, I used points at Ulta to grab it but if I didn’t have points I’d have totally paid full price for this.

So, yeah, the Sephora Sale could have gotten me 20% off but I brought this eyeshadow palette without it being on sale and don’t regret it.

Natasha, Natasha, Natasha. I felt sure I didn’t need your new Bloom Eyeshadow Palette but here we are. I snagged the Natasha Denona Bloom Eyeshadow Palette soon after it launched but I was on the fence about it initially. I thought perhaps it was giving Too Faced Sweet Peach vibes but after seeing someone post a photo of it in a Reddit post I knew I had to have it. This palette is actually inspired by one of my fav palettes from Natasha, the Bloom Blush and Glow Face Palette. I have to say some of the stunning shades in this palette would make a great blush or highlighter and I haven’t ruled out the idea of trying them like that.

I Brought This Eyeshadow Palette Without It Being On Sale and Don’t Regret It

I just love the round up of colors in this palette. Shimmering peaches, golds, corals, tangerines, and pinks make this my ideal Summer Eyeshadow Palette. Not to mention I ADORE shades like this. I actually haven’t dug into this palette yet. I’m sort of scared to use it which is insane considering the amount of eyeshadow palettes I have but I’m really looking forward to digging into. I’ll review it soon.

Natasha Denona Bloom Eyeshadow Palette is one palette I don’t regret hauling without it being on sale!

Let me know if you grabbed this palette!

Swipe, Blend, and Go With These Foundation Stick Recommendations

There’s something so satisfying about an easy to apply foundation. I find that satisfaction in stick foundations because they are so easy to swipe on, blend out, and just go! I think my love affair began with sticks when I purchased my first Benefit Play Stick. I wish I could tell you how long ago it was that Benefit Cosmetics introduced them but it must be a dinosaur’s age now. Later on in life Tarte’s Amazonian Clay Sticks became a fav! Since that time a lot of new foundation sticks have come and gone through my life and to this day they still remain my very favorite way to apply foundation.

Here are a few worth looking into.

LYS Beauty Triple Fix Blurring and Hydrating Skin Tint Foundation Stick $25 (Available at Sephora.com and LYSbeauty.com)
The absolute best foundation stick on the market. Creamy, dreamy, easy to apply, easy to blend, perfect for drier skin, and pigmented as hell. This one has EVERYTHING! You need it. Trust me.

ILIA Skin Rewind Blurring Foundation and Concealer Complexion Stick $48
This is slightly controversial for some folks as it isn’t really that creamy a formula. It does tug a little bit when swiping on but it blends very easily and the amazing thing about is the fact it wears ALL damn DAY! Seriously, one you have this on your skin it does not budge AT ALL.

Dior Forever Skin Perfect 24H Multi-Use Foundation Stick $52
A debated grabbing this for a long time as all the reviews I read said it was pretty matte. But I’m glad I got it because not only is it creamy and long-wearing but it brightens up my entire complexion and has a very smooth, seamless finish that didn’t feel or look dry, matte, or flat. It’s my skin but better.

Fenty Eaze Drop Stick Blur + Smooth Tint Stick Foundation $38
Fenty’s formula is an absolute no experience needed for application. This is one of the easiest foundations you’ll ever apply and a perfect one for natural, no nonsense days you want to look like yourself but better. It’s got just the right amount of tint to give you natural skin enhancing coverage so it takes your own skin and just makes it look better.

Hourglass Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stick $49
Hourglass rivals LYS in terms of creamiest. Granted LYS still holds first place but Hourglass is no quitter. She comes in strong with a creamy consistency that glides on like butter, blends like a dream, and leaves your skin looking flawless.

What are some of your favorite foundation sticks?

Do share!

How to Store Your Makeup Brushes In An Aesthetically Pleasing Way

I admit I have a lot of makeup brushes and they can be challenging to store so the hairs don’t split or become damaged. There are certain ones that I use daily so I store those separate from my other brush and sometimes I’ll rotate them. It’s a little too expensive to store ALL my makeup brushes with this particular makeup brush storage solution but for those I use daily it’s a perfectly aesthetically pleasing way to do so.

Check out this makeup brush holder for your regular round of brushes.

I picked up this Acrylic Bamboo Brush Holder Organizer from amazon.com and I regret nothing. It holds 29 brushes and keeps them standing up and separated so no split or damaged brush hairs. It’s also quite nice looking and slides easily open and closed to access the brushes. The only issue with it is if you have super long handles on some of your powder or blush brushes they might not fit in here. But aside from that it’s the perfect solution to easily store some of your most used brushes easily!

You can snag it at Amazon!

We went to the movies this weekend to see The Encampments and of course, I had to sneak into Sephora while my boyfriend got us some snacks. I wasn’t planning on purchasing the Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Beauty Soulmates Face Palette but here we are. This new Sailor Moon-like Face Palette is a dual compact that contains Airbrush Flawless Finish Brightening and Blush Powder Palette in either Flawless Pink or Pillow Talk Flawless Peach. I wasn’t planning on purchasing this and I typically fail to get excited about packaging anymore but as a Sailor Moon fan I was drawn to this and ended up purchasing it using my Rouge discount. Did I need it? No. Did I want it. Sadly, yes.

When these originally popped up online I only glanced at them casually and I instantly though they were similar to the Charlotte Tilbury Mini Hollywood Blush & Glow Palette but they aren’t at all. I actually would recommend checking out the Mini Hollywood Blush Palettes as I like them a lot more than I do these new Pillow Talk Beauty Soulmates Face Palettes. The fact these are LE did mean they sold out fast at sephora.com. But if you really want them kohls.com and charlottetilbury.com still has them readily available.

This is a very silly purchase for me as I don’t really like matte blushes but the packaging did get me. Here are my thoughts, review, and swatches of the new Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Beauty Soulmates Face Palette.

Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Beauty Soulmates Face Palette ($52) is heart-shaped split compact featuring a Airbrush Flawless Finish Brightening and Blush Powder that a generously-sized mirror. I’m wasn’t really sure how I felt about having a face powder and a blush in one palette. I don’t really use powder as a dry skin girlie but when I saw the video I noticed that it was being applied under the eye area and decided I’d give it a whirl. I got the Flawless Peach Palette because I prefer peach shades of blushes over pink. Also, the pink looked a bit sheerer and the peach was much deeper.

Let’s chat packaging first…!

Of course, the main reason for this purchase was the packaging. I really do fail to get too excited about packaging anymore. But I still have my fandoms and one of them is Sailor Moon so of course, I was here to haul this. Granted, I actually have a lot of different compacts like this from Japan but Charlotte’s just seemed extra pretty! The compact is a large rose gold compact featuring a pink diamond heart in the center of the compact with CT’s initials. Inside is a huge mirror with a quote that reads, “Beauty is a feeling!” Once the powders are gone still be a great little item to carry around for touchups since the mirror is so big. Or if you’re anything like me, you might want to just display it on your vanity. The palette is 0.45 oz and I assume it’s split evenly between the two powders making each one a little over 0.22 oz each. It’ll set you back $52 but I got it for a little less than $42 with my Rouge discount. That wasn’t too bad for such a nicely sized, luxury palette.

Both the blush and powder are super duper smooth. They have a silky formula and my brush loaded up with each one easily without a ton of powdery kick up. The formula is silky, finely milled, and very pigmented. A little goes a very long way. The blush applies very smoothly on my drier skin and had a smooth, even finish. The powder was equally easy to apply with a silky, smooth finish. Unfortunately, it didn’t work under my eyes which makes it a little bit of a bust for me. I had plans to set my concealer with it but I thought it looked bad under my eyes and did fall into my finer lines and looked drier. It worked best on my face but as someone who doesn’t use face powder all that much it’s a little wasteful. It is a nice powder though with a beautiful texture and finish on my skin not to mention does offer a nice brightening finish. The blush was particularly outstanding as it lasted all day without fading. I wore it all day Saturday and all day Sunday and it didn’t move the entire time I had it on (around ten plus hours). One thing I wasn’t huge on was the finish. It’s just too flat for me. You can obviously add your own highlighter for more pop but I’m just not a matte blush girl and this had that flat, dull matte finish I don’t like. This and the fact that I won’t make much use of the powder make this a frivolous little purchase on my part. However, if you love matte blushes and you do use face powder this is an outstanding palette to have around.

Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Beauty Soulmates Face Palette Review & Swatches

Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Beauty Soulmates Face Palette is a gorgeous little compact with two great powder products inside. It’s not for everyone and you may need to question if you’ll use what’s inside. Also, sometimes your inner fan girl (like mine!) will do the talking for you and the packaging may be what catches your eye in the end.

Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Beauty Soulmates Face Palette is available now for a limited time.

Where to buy

Kohl’s Charlotte Tilbury Sephora

Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Beauty Soulmates Face Palette is a new, limited-edition face palette featuring a blush and setting powder. It’s $52, comes in two shade selections, and is 0.45 oz in size. This comes housed in a large rose gold metallic compact featuring a split pan that has a Airbrush Flawless Finish Brightening and Powder Blush. The powders are beautifully formulated. Soft, silky, not powdery, nor dry with a very smooth, flawless finish even on my dry skin. Sadly, the powder didn’t work under my eyes as it did look dry and fell into my finer lines however, on my face it was quite lovely. The blush was particularly great as it had a very long, strong wear for nearly ten plus hours without fading. It was quite pigmented as well so a little goes a very long wear. I didn’t love the finish though as it was a bit too flat and matte for me but you can always add a highlighter for more glow and radiance.

Pros

  • Long-wearing.
  • Soft, silky, but not powdery nor dry.
  • Beautiful packaging.
  • Pigmented.

Cons

Who

Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Beauty Soulmates Face Palette is a beautiful collector’s piece that is functional if you love matte blushes and use face powder.
