EOS Vanilla Cashmere Shea Better Cashmere Body Wash ($12) is one of four new, permanent pH Balanced body washes that launched a few weeks ago at HEB in Texas. Unfortunately, I’m in New York so a trip to HEB wasn’t happening at the moment. Although, if the eggs are cheaper I’d be willing to go (they were $10 bucks last week but now we’re seeing $11-12 ish).
As you know EOS launched an entire Vanilla Cashmere Collection that includes a lipgloss, body butter, and body oil! What a time to be alive! Since trying EOS Vanilla Cashmere I’ve been waiting and waiting for them to extend the collection and it’s finally happening. Don’t quote me but I think new EOS Shea Better Cashmere Body Wash started popping up on Tiktoks around December. I imagine HEB released them early to stores and that’s how people found them. Officially, the body wash popped up on the EOS website last Thursday I believe. I got the e-mail at around 8:45 and I hopped onto the site and Vanilla Cashmere was sold out and still isn’t available.
I do wish they had went the Tree Hut route though for Spring! Tree Hut has started launching a slew of different body sprays to go along with their popular fragrances and I’m here for it. I’d kill for a Vanilla Cashmere Body Mist and I think they likely know that from fans commenting and demanding it on their social media accounts. At some point, maybe we’ll get what we want. For now though, we do have quite a few new items scented like that delicious of whipped vanilla, soft musk, and cozy caramel.
When this sold out I was pretty disappointed and of course, it started popping up on Tiktok shop for $19.99 to $39.99 per bottle. It’s insane how people take advantage of the popularity of these products lately. After I got over my initial disappointment I knew I could wait patiently for it to arrived at the drugstore, Ulta, or somewhere else. I didn’t have to wait long as amazon.com does have it in stock and it shipped out super fly quick!
The bottle is 16 oz and $11.99 and of course, I’m going to get into about the price. $12 isn’t crazy but I want to tell everyone I remember when EOS Vanilla Cashmere Body Lotion was $8 (same 16 oz size) and that pricing was a mere 3 years ago in 2022. I’m turning into my dad with these, “I remember when…” pricing rants but damn, stuff really has changed hasn’t it?
The other thing that deserves to be addressed is the cap on this bottle. Yeah, it’s a little thing but we need to talk about it. I keep seeing people do this awesome hack on Tiktok where they replace the cap on their EOS Body Lotion and use one from Bath and Body Works Lotion (the bottle ones not the tubes). This is genius because the pump is a pain in the ass. Squeezing my lotion out is so MUCH easier. I’m hearing rumors EOS is changing the packaging on the Body Lotions and we will be using the same cap we’re seeing on these new body washes. If that’s true, well, damn I’m a happy girl! I totally prefer that to the pump! Squeezing out the amount you want is just easier.
Now let’s get into the real tea…! You really want to know how the EOS Vanilla Cashmere Shea Better Cashmere Body Wash compares to the delicious creamy vanilla cupcake scent of the body lotion right? Unfortunately, it does not. I can’t say I’m not surprised. I was a little concerned they wouldn’t be able to completely duplicate the scent in a body wash formula and I was right. This doesn’t capture the vanilla correctly. It’s smells sugary but without the warmth of the caramel and the fluffiness of the vanilla. Sometimes it can be difficult creating a vanilla scented body wash as the scent tends to morph. I learned this when I was purchasing a Stila Creme Bouquet dupe from an Indie retailer. She perfected the scent perfectly in a perfume but when I tried her shower gels, shampoos, conditioners, etc using the scent I felt like I was smelling the base she was using for the product combined with the faintest hint of Creme Bouquet. I think the same happens with certain drugstore body washes as well. Sometimes you get that weird soapy scent in the background. I don’t get the soapy element thankfully with this but I’m also, not smelling the beautiful gourmand vanilla that the lotion is scented like. It’s missing a lot of the elements I love about the body lotion.
I haven’t technically tried any of the other fragrances in the collection but those might be better. I think vanilla is just a note that doesn’t translate quite well to a body wash! I will say the formula is lovely. It didn’t feel stripping and created a rich lather. The scent isn’t awful it’s just not what we know and love about Vanilla Cashmere. As I said above, it smells sugary and sweet but the vanilla and caramel don’t really come through.
I really hope this cures your lemming for EOS Vanilla Cashmere Shea Better Cashmere Body Wash. I know people are going to really want this but hopefully, I saved you a few bucks with my review. If you really want to try it I’d say go to a store see if Target has it or or just be patient that way you can at least sniff it before you purchase it online.
