I Know Vaseline is Good But This Is Better….!

Wakey, wakey! It’s Monday and it’s still awful cold outside. When my boyfriend slipped out of bed this morning I dialed the heat on our mattress up to 10 and snuggled down for twenty extra minutes of sleep and it was luxurious. I fear I felt like staying there all day but I hauled my butt up to get my day started.

Two things I hate about New York Winters and that would be the need to just stay in bed because it’s so dull outside and the fact my skin goes into freak out mode. Currently, I’m battling a dry nose and flaky skin the outer area of my nose around my cheek area. I haven’t been sick but with the cold comes a runny nose which accounts for the dry, flaky areas. Ugh! I treat it with one of the cheapest things you can buy from SkinCeuticals and you know damn well nothing from SkinCeuticals is cheap. I’ve raved and reviewed it before as a great pick for healing skin after using acids but it’s always a good talk about again when the cold, Winter air is racking my skin! Any guesses what product I’m talking about?

If you guessed SkinCeuticals Hydra Balm Moisturizer Ointment you guessed correctly. I know the OG is Vaseline and it’s amazing but I gotta admit Hydra Balm is my bestie this time of the year.

This is pure petrolatum with some great additional like Squalane. The consistency is a little thinner than Vaseline and absorbs a lot more easily. For some reason or another it feels ten times more hydrating than vaseline along making it ideal for slugging in the evening. It not only heals those flaky areas around my face but keeps my skin super smooth and well hydrated. It retains the moisture it delivers to skin and provides lasting moisture.

I use it on my face, under my eyes, and even on my lips. A tiny little under your eyes makes it an ideal prep for drier concealers like Tarte Shape Tape Concealer! The best part is it’s probably one of SkinCeuticals cheapest products. A 1.67 oz tube lasts you ages and will only set you back $25 bucks.

If your skin is in need of serious winterization I’d recommend picking up a little SkinCeuticals Hydra Balm Moisturizer Ointment and thank me later.

What products do you use to keep your skin flake-free during this cold weather?
