There are so many OG makeup and beauty products I wish I could get my hands on today! If I had a time machine I’d bring back Teen Spirit Deodorant (It’s still available but I’d like to see some of the original scents), Maybelline Dream Mousse Concealer, Benefit Lemonaid, and MAC Paints (in particular the shade Soft Ocre)! Hmmm…I’m pretty sure there are dozens more items but we’d be all here if I made a list.
Sadly, some of my beloved makeup and beauty products from yesteryear are long gone but I still use several OG makeup and beauty products there are still here and amazing. Here’s some of my OG Makeup and Beauty products that I use daily.
Tarte Shape Tape Concealer is by no means a no products (P.S. It’ll be on sale at ulta.com starting January 26th for Shape Tape Day). It’s a baby compared some makeup products that are still around. Released in 2016 the original Shape Tape Concealer gave birth to a whole liter of different products and formulations of the original. We got Radiant Shape Tape, Creamy Shape Tape, Corrector Shape Tape, and a million other products.
As for me, I’m still an OG formula girlie. I’ve used it since the day of release and haven’t looked back. It’s still one of my favorite concealers. As a dry skin girl I’m even surprised it works for me but it does and the coverage is like nothing else. Although, I will say I’m sort of a convert to Covergirl TruBlend Undercover Concealer lately but I still always find my way back to my beloved Tarte. It’s a tried and true fav and an OG I’ll keep around forever.
Shu Uemura hasn’t gone through too many changes in the last several years but it feels like they are a lot less active on the makeup scene and their releases aren’t as quick as other brands. That being said I feel like their entire empire can be held together thanks to a single product they carry which I love and will mourn the loss of should they ever close up shop. You guessed what it was already didn’t you? The Cadillac of eyelash curlers, the OG, the legend, the Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler. I’ve used this curler for well over 15 years and yes, I’ve tried plenty of other ones but it’s still my very favorite. It fits my fingers perfectly, gives my lashes the most precise curl, and doesn’t pinch! I will absolutely always buy this OG curler.
You know a lot of facial oils have come and gone through my life but Josie Maran’s Argan Oil is still the OG. Fight me on this if you want because I know they’ll be a million people telling me, “oh you can get argan oil at any vitamin store super cheap!” Yeah, maybe so, but I love Josie’s formula. It’s so lightweight, so quick to absorb, and so hydrating. It really is the OG facial oil for me and to this day it remains a product I use very, very, very often especially in the Winter when my skin loves to misbehave! Josie’s formula still remains tried, true, and favored in my skincare stash!
Did you know Rosebud Salve is the answer to life, the universe, and everything? In all seriousness, Rosebud Salve has been part of my beauty routine for over 20 years and I hope I’ll get even more years from it because it’s just THAT good. I use it on my lips, on my dry cheeks, on my cracked nose when I have a cold, on my brows to keep them in place, on hangnails, on cuticles, mixed with powder blush to create a dewy cream blush, the list goes on and on and on and on and on…! I love this stuff and it will forever remain an OG beauty product that remains in my stash!
Speaking of OG balms and salves the real OG is Vaseline. You remember how Toula’s dad thought Windex was the cure all in My Big Fan Greek Wedding? He was wrong. It’s Vaseline. Vaseline cures anything and everything. Dry elbows, heals, and knees? Vaseline. Dry nose from a cold? Vaseline. Chapped lips? Vaseline! Need a quick body scrub? Mix Vaseline with sugar! Dry under eyes? Vaseline! Rash? Vaseline! Need a quick way to remove makeup? Vaseline! There must one thousand ways to use vaseline and the best part is this stuff will never be discontinued. I am 100% positive you’ll be forever able to find a big old jar of Vaseline to make use of in your beauty routine forever more. It truly is the OG beauty staple in everyone’s stash!
